İstanbul based playwright and scriptwriter. Born in Eskişehir in 1988, Derem Çıray graduated from Dramatic Writing at Dokuz Eylül University in 2011. Between 2011-2014, she was part of the writing team of TRT 1 TV series “Leyla ile Mecnun”.  Her short play within Theatre_Uncut project about Gezi Protests, “Apollo 8844”, was performed at the Traverse Theater as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and at the Dot Theater as part of İKSV Theatre Festival in 2013, both directed by Hannah Price.  In the same year, she participated in Interplay Europe in Bregenz, Austria with her play “Muhteşem Zelda”. Derem Çıray also worked on the writing team for the TV series “Ben de Özledim” and co-wrote the script for “Paramparça”, which aired on Star TV from 2015 to 2016. She attended the Royal Court Theatre’s playwriting workshop for two years and wrote a play called “Son İnsan”, which was staged at the Dot Theater in 2014 and later broadcast as a sound theater on Storytel as part of Podacto. Derem Çıray participated in the Schaxpir Theater Festival in Linz, Austria in 2015, and the On the Edge Theater Festival in Birmingham, UK in 2016 as a playwright representing her country. She also worked as a scriptwriter for one season in the TV series “Bir Zamanlar Çukurova,” which aired on ATV in 2018. In 2020, her plays “Hortlak Kızın Hikayesi”, “Aktarımlar” “Artık Hiçbir şey Bizi Birbirimize Yaklaştıramaz”, “Bırak Bu Kurt Kadın Ayaklarını” were published as audio-plays Storytel as part of Podacto. In 2021, her plays “Belki de Sadece Yanına Olmam Gerekiyordu” and “Başka Bir Dünyada Görüşürüz” were broadcast as sound theater on Tiyatrolar TV. She also wrote the play “Eller, Ayaklar ve Kalpler”, which was digitally staged as part of the 8 March project of Kadıköy Emek Theatre. Furthermore, Derem Çıray wrote the first and eighth episodes of the Podacto Studio project, which was broadcast on Blu Tv in 2021.
